Scorpion
Name: Fat-Tailed ScorpionScientific Name: Androctonus crassicauda
Basic Information:
Fat-tailed, or "fattail," scorpions are from the Buthidae family. So named for their wide tail sections, Fat-Tailed Scorpions are found naturally throughout the Middle East and Africa. Adults usually grow to be 10 cm long and are nocturnal, seeking shelter from light and undesirably low moisture levels during the day and emerging at night to hunt. Scorpions in the Buthidae family are often implicated in the deaths of humans due to the close proximity with which the two organisms often live. Scorpions in the Androctonus are popular in the exotic animal trade, despite their potentially dangerous stings.
