Polar Bear
Name: Polar BearScientific Name: Ursus Maritimus
Basic Information:
These huge bears can weigh up to 600 kg and can grow to 3 m in length. The polar bear's diet consists of ringed seals, birds, shellfish, young walruses, crabs and has been known to eat reindeer. The reason it mainly eats marine animals is because it is specially designed to digest the fat of marine animals. Not only is the polar bear Windaroo's largest carnivore, but it's the largest land carnivore in the world. These bears are also great swimmers. This ability helps them catch the fast seals in the cold waters of the Artic. For the most part male bears are solitary creatures exploring their cold kingdom, while females will travel around in small groups. The bears are very curious creatures and have no natural predators. They will treat almost any creature they encounter as potential prey, including humans. Polar bear cubs typically stay with their mother for 2 to 3 years at which time they are left to their own survival.
