Life Story of a Zoo
The Windaroo zoo celebrated its opening day on Jan 10, 1980. Windaroo Zoo was founded in part by the city of Windaroo and Windaroo zoological society. The founders wanted to create a place of learning for the community and a sanctuary for injured or endangered animals of Australia. The first animal to start the zoo family was a Kangaroo named Andy, who was a gift to the zoo from the Mayor of Windaroo.
Since then the Zoo has grown to over 134 animals, spanning all habitats found on earth.
